"Oh Miss Delaney, what's the matter?"

Delaney is our 6 year old... we started Foote and Flame when she was about 6 months old!

The name Delaney originates as an Irish surname and the Gaelic meaning is "child of dark defiance". Another meaning of Delaney from the Irish origin is "descendant of the challenger" and from French origins it means “from the alder grove”.

I always loved the more surnamey names for first names - like Kennedy, Mackenzie, Jefferson and Griffin.

Jodi Benson's daughters name is also Delaney but we are yet to meet another in real life!

We came across the name Delaney when I was driving around whilst pregnant listening to Jacks Mannequin and a song called Miss Delaney came on. My brain goes Delaney can be a name? Yes it can! From that day there was no question that that was her name.

Her middle name is Rae (the middle name of a friend I lost to a car accident in high school) and I do call her D-Rae or D for short. (Also D-Face but I'm trying to break that habit)

I love talking about names, what are some of your favorites?

I will also do a post on how we arrived at Occy's name too - its not actually how most people expect!

Kind words from one of our customers

"Absolutely stunning. Bought for my mother-in-law for her birthday and we love it so much that we are getting ourselves one. She has received so many compliments about it!"
